Saturday September 13, Dan was fastest qualifier, won his heat and started pole where he lead all laps to pick up a feature win at Willard Speedway!
Portsmouth Raceway Park was hosting their annual "River Days Rumble" special event this past Saturday which drew in a huge crowd. The Lucas Oil Late Models were back in town, followed by the modified and bomber classes. Dan was fastest qualifier over all of the night. After an inverted heat race, Dan would start 4th (outside row 2) of Heat 1. Charging hard, Dan went to the front and won his 8 lap heat race. Starting pole, Dan was out front the entire 20 lap feature and brought home his 4th win this year at PRP! This was out of the ordinary because Dan has won 3 previous features at PRP but has only lead a total of 4 laps!
Thank you to all sponsors, crew and fans who make this possible for Team #60.
Also, congratulations to 4B Motorsports who also won the Lucas Oil Late Model feature that night as well.
Team #60 set off excited to race at a new track, 191 Speedway this past Monday for their Labor Day special. After being at the track for about an hour, a heavy down pour came through and unfortuently rained the races out. We are hoping to get back to 191 again before the end of the season.
Ponderosa Speedway was hosting their 11th Annual John Bradshaw Memorial. This unique track shaped like a “D” started out slick. Dan qualified 5th fastest overall and finished 2nd in Heat 2. After a heavy down pour came through , the track was determined to get this special racing event in. Everyone sat it out until the rain was finished, packed the track and after a 3 hour delay we were ready to go racing again. You’d think the track would be hammer down fast the remainder of the night but the 50 lap Late Model feature soaked it right up and the track turned black. Dan stated 5th in the modified feature and finished 4th in the feature.
Portsmouth Raceway Park was hosting their 20th annual Fred Dillow Memorial race this past Saturday. There was 131 cars registered that night and 52 of them were modifieds! Dan took to the track in group two of hot lap qualifying, putting him to the top of the speed chart in his group. His time remained at the top of the charts until he was bumped to second overall. Because of an inversion, Dan started 4th (outside-row 2) of Heat two. The 8 lap heat race was exciting as he passed for the lead with 2 laps to go and earned himself an outside front row starting position for the 20 lap feature. Devin Gilpin, the pole sitter immediately jumped out to a 5 car length lead. The hunt was on as Dan tried multiple lines in attempts to put together solid laps to close the margin. With the end of the race near Dan was now nipping at the heels of the leader, he began working the middle groove as Devin was running the bottom. Dan got to his right door and the caution flag flew with only 4 laps to go. As the green flag dropped the race was on, with the white flag in the air, Dan was again on his bumper going down the back straight away. As they rounded turns three and four, Dan was now along his right door. Side by side they came through the checkers, the finish was so close nobody knew who was the victor. After Dan exited the race track and crossed the scale he was informed that he had won by .013 of a second according to the transponder! Dan said “that was the closest margin of victory he has ever won by.” It was an awesome race as his never give up attitude and driving technique earned him the victory.
Dan was 2nd fastest qualifier overall at Willard Speedway this past Friday. He started outside pole of heat two and won. Feature time Dan started outside pole again and finished second.
Thank you to all the fans who came out for fan appreciation night. It was great to see a nice turn out and meet some new race fans!
Heavy rain most of the week had tracks canceling left and right. After getting rained out the previous night Team #60 was determined to race. After searching all over the web, asking fans online, we found a track we've never heard of before. About 130 miles north of us was a dirt track called Ohio Valley Speedway. We loaded up and were excited to try a new track. Dan went out for hot lap qualifying where he was 4th fastest overall. Then the track took a short break in the schedule to bring all drivers and their cars on track for a chance to let race fans get an up close look and meet the drivers. Soon after racing returned, Dan started pole of Heat 4 and won. Feature time Dan started 4th (outside, row 2). The entire race was side by side battles, however Dan made the right moves and held of the field for a feature win!!
